Enterprise software architect with 15+ years designing systems where precision, security, and reliability aren't optional — now applying that discipline to AI for document-intensive professional fields.
Areas of Focus
Background
I'm an enterprise software architect who has spent 15+ years building systems where getting it wrong isn't an option: identity platforms at Ping Identity, industrial systems at GE Digital, high-availability infrastructure at xMatters.
In recent years I've turned my focus toward applied AI, specifically how large language models and retrieval-augmented generation can be deployed responsibly in regulated, document-intensive professional environments.
I'm particularly interested in the legal profession. Law is one of the few fields where precision of language matters as much as technical correctness, and where the consequences of an AI getting something wrong are real and serious. That constraint appeals to me as an engineer.
Currently based in Port Moody, BC, where I'm also building middleware for legally authoritative data systems.
What I Do
My approach draws on the standards that enterprises expect from mission-critical software, applied to AI systems that professionals depend on.
Production-grade retrieval-augmented generation for document-heavy use cases. Designed for accuracy, auditability, and professional-grade reliability rather than impressive demos.
Helping legal professionals evaluate and implement AI tools, with honest guidance on what AI can and cannot do, and what compliance with professional obligations actually requires.
Backend systems, APIs, and data infrastructure built to enterprise standards: Java, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS, and the patterns that make complex systems maintainable.
Identity management, access control, and data governance with real compliance context, including BC-specific regulatory frameworks like FOIPPA and PIPEDA.
AI systems that accurately parse, retrieve, and reason over large document collections with the precision that regulated professionals need to rely on.
15+ years leading engineering teams and technical strategy across startups and enterprises. I help organizations make sound decisions about where and how to deploy AI.
